Facebook vs The Sector, on Product Equity Strategies
B. Fadrigon et. al.
UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, Equity Fluent Leadership
The Community, Trust, and Safety team on the Facebook App is interested in knowing who we are talking about when we talk about equity: Do any companies have a different approach towards product equity, other than race/ethnicity?
Problem Space & Background
Current DEIB Focuses
Meta and their product Facebook largely focuses on Racial/Ethnic DEIB programs and projects in their product equity strategies. Though they define Gender, Race, Accessibility, Sexual Orientation, and Language as paths towards DEIB strategies, they put most of their eggs in one basket.
Team Empowerment
By collecting accurate information of what other social media companies and Facebook's competitors are doing in their Product Equity Strategies, the Trust and Safety Team can feel more secure in their actions and recommendations.
