In the height of the Black Lives Matter and Stop Asian Hate movements of 2020, I became the Diversity & Inclusion Chair of the University of Pittsburgh's Student Government Board. I selected 12 students from over 75 applications and interviews to join the committee.

As chair, I encouraged students to pursue passion projects with me there for guidance and advice. Our biggest projects and achievements are shown below.

Better Community Engagement with Pitt Police

Created a regular open dialogue between student representatives and the Univ. of Pittsburgh Police department to discuss issues of environment, culture & attitudes, and feelings of safety amongst BIPOC students.

Mental Health Services for BIPOC & Amidst COVID-19

Collaborated with Student Affairs to create an inclusive program for Mental Health Awareness Month (October) and continued conversations with the health center on centering marginalized populations in mental health care.

What The F*ck: Difficult Conversations with Staff, Admin, and Students

In the time of Zoom, this recurring event opened discussions to the Univ. of Pittsburgh student community as well as the surrounding non-student residents. The inaugural event discussed White Supremacy and how it occurred on the Oakland campus.

Collaboration Grant

This grant was established for the purpose of encouraging student organizations to collaborate on events for their different cultural or identity based organizations. Funding came from the Student Organization Resource Center & Student Government Board.
